Gunthrie – Urolithiasis

Hello everyone, meet Gunthrie! The American dog that got into some trouble during his vacation in Athens…

He presented to our clinic with hematuria as his main symptom.

Following a series of laboratory and imaging examinations (abdominal ultrasound and X-rays, urinalysis, and blood tests), Gunthrie was diagnosed with urolithiasis.

When uroliths are medium to large in size relative to the patient, the treatment of choice is surgical removal. There is always the risk that the stones could migrate into the urethra and cause serious complications.

Gunthrie underwent a cystotomy, is now recovering well, and can continue enjoying his holiday in Greece!
