Jazz is a regular at the park, and unfortunately, he picked up a grass awn as a “souvenir”!
A grass awn is that dry, arrow-shaped seed head from certain grasses, which carries the risk of penetrating the body anywhere.
Jazz was lucky — it had only entered his paw, between the toes. However, grass awns can also migrate into the ears, genital area, abdominal cavity, thoracic cavity, or nasal cavity… in which case the situation would be far more serious!
